H. Rutt教授為英國南安普敦大學學(University of Southampton)電資學院院長，同時亦為該校光電研究中心之遠紅外線科技研究團隊負責人，Rutt教授專精於紅外線雷射應用研究，在該領域已有30多年教學經驗，並為英國物理學會會士、美國光學學會會士及國際電子電機工程學會資深會員.


演講簡述(Talk Abstract)
Molecules absorb primarily in the infrared and 'terahertz' part of the electromagnetic spectrum through their vibrational and rotational motions. This talk is a basic introduction to molecular spectroscopy. It has relevance both to the analysis of the properties of gaseous molecules, but also to gas detection and environmental aspects.
